NASRIA has today made a landmark contribution of N$25 million towards regional economic development across all 14 regions of Namibia, in an initiative aimed at creating opportunities, strengthening livelihoods and changing the futures of thousands of Namibians.
The contribution was officially handed over to the Regional Governors during a ceremony attended by the Right Honourable Dr Elijah Ngurare, Prime Minister of the Republic of Namibia, and Honourable Ericah Shafudah, Minister of Finance.
Receiving the contribution on behalf of Government, Prime Minister Ngurare commended NASRIA for its commitment to regional development and partnership with Government.
“Development plans matter only when they produce visible improvements in people’s lives,” he said, emphasizing the need for initiatives that create tangible economic value for communities.
The N$25 million contribution will support productive development initiatives across Namibia’s regions, with Regional Governors encouraged to focus on projects that respond to real needs and have the potential to create lasting economic impact.
The expected outcomes extend beyond the expenditure of the funds. The initiative seeks to support businesses, strengthen livelihoods, create employment, improve infrastructure and attract further investment into regional economies.
“Public resources are limited, and Government cannot carry the full burden of development alone. We need partnerships and the participation of all stakeholders,” Prime Minister Ngurare said, describing the contribution as an example of how institutions within Namibia’s financial system can support national development priorities.
The initiative aligns with Namibia’s Sixth National Development Plan and Government’s broader efforts to build a more diversified, resilient and inclusive economy.
For NASRIA, the contribution represents more than a financial handover. It is an investment in people, communities and possibilities. Across Namibia, opportunities will differ from region to region, but the shared objective remains the same: to unlock potential, create meaningful economic opportunities and contribute towards a better future for Namibians.
